DAY-12 on the spot checks for FEOGA/EAFRD between Caceres and Galisteo

Dear colleagues from the Rural Development Committee and the Council working party,
as I know that some of you follow my blog I'll give you my report of today in english.
Today the weather was fine: no rain and almost sunny. So I started from Caceres to Galisteo. And while the wind most of time came from the left side I tourned my direction in the right moment: when I climbed up from the valley of the river Tajo (better known as Tejo in Portugal) it came from the backside and pushed me forward :-)
I'll declare this trip as a mission of control of European regulations in the field of rural development. Especially concerning the information to the public by plaquettes. I saw already a lot of them and I can confirm that they are correct in form, size and colours. Not only for new projects under EAFRD, but already in former times under FEOGA with investments in pesetas!
Secondly I saw a lot of animals like cows, sheeps and goats. Even I didn't have the possibility of administrative cross checks it appeared to me that the earmarks and the number of animals were correct. I followed a tip of an well experienced auditor concerning counting animals: count the legs and divide by four!
To sum up: everything was correct, the error rate of the sample was 0,0% - congratulation to Isabel and her colleagues!

And congratulations to a beautiful landscape with a lot of nature and animals, especially storks - I never saw them in this density!
I'm very much impressed of such a wide view in combination with a blue sky and white/grey clouds in a clear contrast. In Galisteo I was surprised by an enormous number of swallows and their nests in the villages - this remembers me to my childhood when this picture was usual.
But the most important is of course the spanish kitchen. I love these delicous tapas !!!
